Tractebel has provide studies for artificial islands related to dredging and land reclamation, shore protection, scour protection, transportation and nautical studies, port design, hydrodynamic and morphological modelling, geotechnical aspects, QHS&E engineering, risk management, contract and interface management, site supervision and follow-up of marine works, cable installation works and many others. Tractebel relies on an expert team of engineers with both theoretical and practical experience.
During the past years Tractebel has developed a variety of in-house tools, methods and models in which we have gained trust and experience from specific engineering challenges and projects in the past. For each project we investigate which are the best applicable tools to use, e.g. the numerical simulation of coastal erosion/accretion, wave propagation, extreme wave modelling etc. Furthermore, when considered necessary or possibly cost-saving, Tractebel can assist the client with an independent expert advice in the selection of laboratories and test programs for the execution of 2D and 3D physical model tests.
Tractebel has a large and independent basis to perform realistic BoQ calculations and cost estimates for the required works. One of our major activities is the estimation of costs related to dredging, offshore and marine works.
Two of our key references are the recent studies we performed for Elia Asset n.v.: the Engineering Office services we provided Elia with for the development of the Belgian Offshore Grid and the Owner’s Engineering services for the development of an artificial island in the North Sea, in which many of the above mentioned aspects proved to be valuable assets.
